By one day you (and 1,765 others like you) miss the right to vote on May 6th. But the decision that will be made by voters on May 6th will still influence the not-able-to-vote like you. May7th1992.com is designed to give you a voice, even though you don't have a vote.

  • Email a picture of yourself to photos@may7th1992.com. We plan on creating a composite image making up the face of the Unknown First Time Non Voter. (Your own identity will not be revealed in the photograph, and we won't send you spam)
  • Search for others with the same birthday. Get them involved. We're planning a big group photo event with the media just before May 6th.
  • Why? You are the best case for a First Time Voter voting. Your voice can say to these First Timers, "My unlucky birthday means I just miss the chance to vote on May 6th. You have a vote. Make sure you use it."

  • Isobel's story: I was born on May 7th 1992, meaning I turn 18 the day after this year's election. As you can imagine, this is hugely frustrating! I've been looking forward to voting increasingly, as I became more aware of the failings of our current government. Never having been very politically involved, I now found myself looking for a better leader to change things. This election is the closest yet, a real three horse race, and this means that every vote counts more than ever. It's such an important event, and could really affect our future. Since I can't vote, I'd encourage everyone to appreciate the right. It doesn't matter what your opinion is - just that you express it!

  • Daniel's story: It frustrates me greatly that this year's general election happens to fall on the 6th of May, the day before my 18th birthday. For the first time, I feel like I have a grasp of the key issues in the run-up to a general election, as well as the policies with which each of the three main parties aims to win the support of the British electorate. And were I to have been born roughly 13 hours earlier than was in fact the case, I would be able to exercise the most basic right of British adults, the right to vote. This frustration only intensifies knowing that a significant number of young Brits with this right will not be voting in 2010, despite this being arguably the most important general election in a generation. I'd therefore like to encourage all first time voters to take the opportunity given to them to have their say in electing the government which could be taking policy decisions on their behalf for the next five years, an opportunity that will unfortunately pass me by.

More First Time Voters voted in X-Factor than say they'll vote on May 6th. Your voice can help change that.
